Traditional wedding dresses are favored by brides who are having a formal wedding.  However over the years informal weddings are becoming popular at different venues.  Such destination weddings give a bride the chance to experiment and come up with a unique dress for her special day.  Many couples like getting married at a beach.  It is a trendy venue.  Such events are casual, sporty and fun.  For some couples, it seems like a perfect way to start their new life together.

Dressing up for a beach wedding is a wonderful opportunity to be adventurous and original.  Choose something with is informal and easy.  A style that is relaxed and as breezy as the ocean wind will definitely suit the occasion.  You could not go wrong with light fabrics and flowing designs.  Of course a veil is out and so is formal footwear.  The look you should try and achieve should be relaxed, simple and showing a bit of skin.

Plan your dress taking the venue into account.  Formal dresses with elaborate trimmings will not do, neither will you need a long train.  The style has to be sporty and casual.  Many brides opt for short or half length dresses.  If you have slim long legs, you can definitely consider this style.  If you are not tall and slim and cannot carry off that style go for a gown of fuller length in a style that enhances your waist and upper body.  A halter or strapless dress is a popular choice with beach brides.  They look pure, simple with a touch of sensuality.

Opt for a light weight fabric that clings to you.  Somehow even a bright sunny day at the beach is windy and you may feel that it will make your gown blow around.  You do not need to be occupied with managing your dress on your special day.  You can experiment with colours.  Lime, Light Blue, Yellow and Light Green are popular choices for a beach wedding dress.  If you feel that these colours are not appropriate, you can go for cream, pearl, ivory, pale blue.

Fabrics like georgette, some types of satin that are light, chiffon, Chinese silk are good choices.  However a lot depends on individual choice.  Non-traditional wedding dresses have been made in a variety of fabrics like rayon and even cotton-rayon blends and jacquard.  Choose the fabric keeping the weather in mind.  Autumn weddings at the beach would definitely be chilly and a thicker material would be a better choice than chiffon.
Choose the correct accessories.  Veils are not a good choice as they will keep blowing in the wind.  If you do go for a veil, secure it properly.  Hats too can slip, so these have to be pinned properly.  Generally brides go for a simple hairstyle and accessories it with flowers or some hair decorations done up in pearls or rhinestone.  A pony tail or a simple knot with a few curls escaping from it can achieve the perfect look.  Embellish it with some pretty hair accessory.  A Hawaiian lei headband goes very well with the look.

You will not be able to wear formal footwear.  Some brides prefer to get married bare-foot.  Others wear flip flops to their wedding.  This is the best, since it is difficult to move around and look after your guests wearing formal footwear on a sandy beach.

On a sunny day in the summers, you can wear minimal clothing and be comfortable.  However, if you are getting married in September at a beach, get a gown with sleeves or a jacket.  The breeze can be quite cold and a strapless gown, however attractive it looks, can not ward off the chill.

You can get yourself some beach jewellery made of shells and driftwood that go very well with the theme.
A wedding is a special occasion in a person’s life.  It is the day a couple commits itself to a life-long partnership.  There is nothing more romantic than taking their vows among their friends and loved ones standing on the sand with the ocean in front of them.  It is the perfect way to begin their new life together.  Beach weddings are becoming very fashionable and can be very classy if planned out correctly.
